BHETA Export Forum ‘Wows’ members
Approaching fifty BHETA members in DIY, garden and housewares attended the BHETA Export Forum and pronounced it ‘the best ever’ in BHETA’s successful series of guest speaker and networking occasions. The event, which took place on Thursday 4th September was part of BHETA’s 2014 Export Initiative and was organised jointly with its trade challenge partner – the UKTI.
Equally relevant for export novices, operators with limited experience looking to expand or longstanding exporters looking to develop additional markets, the forum took place at Austin Court, Birmingham to allow for the very high number of delegates and the workshop format employed.
Regional Director of the UKTI, Paul Noon presented an overview of the export opportunities and help that was available, including a sneak preview of some of the latest Government initiatives yet to be formally unveiled. He was supported by three UKTI International Trade Advisors who ran separate breakout sessions for members depending on their level of export experience. The Forum also featured advice on Foreign Exchange transactions and Currency Risk Management from Associate Member, AFEX and case studies from Aerolatte and Spear & Jackson. The event closed with a networking lunch providing ample opportunities to talk to other exporters and speakers.
