BHETA Forum - 19th May 2016

BHETA Forum - 19th May 2016

BHETA will be holding a Forum for all its members, on Thursday May 19th commencing at 9.30am.

We have an excellent line up of speakers specifically chosen to highlight opportunities in the industry and stimulate debate on a number of current issues.

The Aussie Invasion! It’s real and it’s here now! So what do we know about Wesfarmers Bunnings? Well, by attending this forum you can hear it straight from the mouths of CEO John Gillam and CFO for nine years Michael Wedgwood in a frank and open fifty minute interview that will give you a fantastic insight to the psyche and mindset of this business that is disturbing the status quo and equilibrium in the UK with its takeover of Homebase. Many column inches and much speculation and analysis is already being given over as to how they might operate in the UK but, by attending this forum you will get a better idea of the Bunnings DNA that could shape much of their thinking and approach to the UK. Really good and not to be missed!

Living through ‘One’ Kingfisher – the suppliers viewpoint. This is a member-to-member presentation.

So, ‘One’ Kingfisher, what does it mean and what’s it all about? The arrival of Veronique Laury as CEO from Kingfisher’s Castorama in France – replacing Sir Ian Cheshire – has heralded the ‘One’ Kingfisher programme to unify the buying power it has across all its retail brands and to rationalise the supplier roster. This is being done to harmonise and reduce the supplier base in the belief that all pan–european markets are the same. There are going to be supplier winners and casualties in this process. Here, we hear from one BHETA member – Lee Mellor, md of Keter Products / Curver Plastics – of their journey through the process and what you can expect when it’s your turn.

How do you go about cracking sales and developing exports to France? In this session we are joined by Valerie Dequen, General Manager of the French suppliers’ trade association, Unibal together with Stephane Dalimier, Director General of NMC France and Vice President of Fediyma.

We also welcome Guy Burtenshaw of Media Events to give us an update on the Home Press Event that will take place in July in London. The Home Press Event is based on the massively successful and highly regarded Garden Press Event that now has a ten year pedigree and heritage in the sector. Guy will bring you up-to-date with the objectives and aims of the Home Press Event and even has a tantalising offer for BHETA members.

Refreshments will be provided on the day, including a networking lunch.
In the first instance please register your interest to Dawn Clarke at dc@bheta.co.uk
