Amazon Reports Strong Q4 and Full-Year Growth in 2024

Amazon has reported double-digit growth in sales and profits for both its fourth quarter and full-year 2024, highlighting strong demand across its retail, international, and cloud computing divisions. The results indicate continued expansion opportunities for suppliers selling via Amazon’s platform.

Fourth Quarter Highlights:

  • Total sales: Up 10% year-over-year to $187.8 billion.
  • North America sales: Increased 10% to $115.6 billion.
  • International sales: Up 8% to $43.4 billion, or 9% when adjusted for currency fluctuations.
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services): Continued rapid growth, with a 19% increase in sales to $28.8 billion.
  • Operating income: Rose to $21.2 billion, up from $13.2 billion in Q4 2023.
  • Net income: $20.0 billion, almost doubling from $10.6 billion in Q4 2023.

Full-Year 2024 Performance:

  • Total revenue: Grew 11% to $638.0 billion.
  • North America segment: Increased 10% to $387.5 billion.
  • International segment: Up 9% to $142.9 billion (or 10% adjusted for currency).
  • AWS growth: Reached $107.6 billion, up 19% year-over-year.
  • Operating income: Soared 86% to $68.6 billion, with North America and International turning stronger profits.
  • Net income: Nearly doubled to $59.2 billion.
  • Free cash flow: Improved to $38.2 billion, ensuring continued investment capacity.
