Currys has announce a new partnership with Deloitte as part of the latter’s ‘Recycle for Good’ initiative, designed to encourage the responsible recycling of old technology and electrical items. This initiative invites Deloitte’s 25,000 employees across the UK to recycle their outdated devices at Currys stores, making a positive environmental impact.
Through Currys’ Cash for Trash and trade-in program, Deloitte staff can bring in their used tech items and receive a minimum of a £5 Currys voucher, irrespective of the original purchase location or date. This initiative promotes sustainable disposal methods while incentivizing recycling practices.
In an added benefit, Currys will return some reusable devices back to Deloitte. These refurbished devices will be donated through Deloitte’s device donation program, further enhancing the firm’s commitment to digital inclusion.
This new collaboration builds on Deloitte’s existing recycling efforts, which includes the donation of retired laptops to charities and schools. To date, Deloitte has successfully distributed over 17,500 refurbished laptops as part of this initiative, demonstrating its ongoing dedication to supporting the community.
Lindsay Haselhurst, chief operating officer at Currys, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to work with Deloitte on their significant ‘Recycle for Good’ initiative. At Currys, we are committed to reducing e-waste and educating our customers about responsible disposal of unwanted tech. Our established Cash for Trash and trade-in programs offer a convenient solution for Deloitte colleagues to recycle their old devices while actively combating the e-waste crisis.”
Richard Houston, Deloitte UK senior partner and chief executive, emphasized the impact of the initiative: “The ‘Recycle for Good’ collaboration with Currys allows us to transform old technology into new opportunities. By recycling their outdated devices, our colleagues can make a meaningful impact in bridging the digital divide.”
Through this partnership, Currys and Deloitte are taking significant steps towards promoting sustainability and enhancing digital access, ensuring that valuable technology is put to better use rather than going to waste.
